How increased cleaning during Ontario school closures can help relieve stress for all

COVID-19 has changed the look of many industries with people having to adapt their roles to adhere to local and federal governmental policy. Closures have affected all industries, one of the areas affected most by these new regulations has been Ontario schools. Specifically the teachers who have had a tough time doing their jobs due to the new challenges the pandemic has caused. Before the Ontario School closures teachers were not only asked to create a healthy learning environment for their students but to also go further in limiting the spread of germs throughout high traffic areas in schools, such as classrooms, cafeterias, gymnasiums, washrooms, and hallways. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are some things you can do to help limit and stop the spread of illnesses in your classroom. With these tips in mind, the team at Petra Hygienic Systems has put together a classroom cleaning checklist during the Ontario school closures to prepare for students to return.

Disinfecting Daily

If school cleaning goes unchecked, classrooms can become a feeding ground for harmful bacteria. During school closures sanitization staff should focus on hard surfaces such as cubbies, lockers, desks, whiteboards and textbooks are all frequently touched objects in the classroom that can transmit the spread of germs. Make sure to clean these surfaces with disinfectants can help limit and stop the spread of COVID-19. According to the CDC, once on a surface, COVID-19 can live on that surface from minutes up to days. Using a proven disinfectant to clean these high touch objects at least twice daily, will help limit the spread of germs and possibly save a life in the process. One of the easiest ways to disinfect these surfaces is by using disinfectant wipes. Simply position a dispenser with a roll of these wipes in each classroom and twice a day wipe over all high touch areas. See below for some options offered by Petra Hygienic Systems.

Regular Hand Washing

Seems like a no-brainer, right? Hand soaps, if used correctly, are very effective in cleaning your hands. However, not all soaps are made the same. Some soaps are made with additives and parabens that can cause skin irritation while leaving your skin feeling dried out. Athleticare Hand Soap is fragrance free and made with no-parabens, designed to remove dirt and residue from the skin while keeping it hydrated with it’s mild moisturizing agents. If staff want to take it one step further to prepare for students to return after the school closures, they should use an effective hand soap. Not only does   Petra offer a great selection of hand soaps but also offers a range of hand sanitizers from 17 oz to 1 gallon that you can place strategically around your campus for your students and faculties protection. Reducing the Use of Touch in Schools during School closures

Many schools still don’t have the best cleaning procedures in place to help limit the spread of germs in classrooms. During the Ontario School Closures Staff should add touchless Dispensers in the washrooms and classrooms to increase the huge role in limiting the spread of viruses such as COVID-19. A hands free antiseptic sanitizer is essential for continuously cleansing the hands of students and teachers throughout the school day. While schools are trying to limit the amount of daily travel outside the classroom, placing automatic hand sanitizing stations in hallways, classrooms, and offices are a great way to help limit the spread. According to the CDC even hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol can limit the spread of COVID-19, which is why we know our hand sanitizer gel with 75% Ethanol Alcohol is exactly what you need.

Use advanced safety

To prepare for students to return after the school closures, the best way to maintain a healthy learning environment without breaking the bank is to stay ahead of the curve with professional grade cleaners that professional cleaning services use. When cleaning your schools look at the Eva Clean Professional Cordless Electrostatic sprayer to disinfect those hard to reach spots in your classroom like in between those cubbies.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is Essential
The CDC also expresses the importance of wearing face coverings, which is why the 3 layer disposable masks are great essential items which in tandem can further increase the effectiveness of school cleaning.

School Safety is a priority

The main goal for teachers in the classroom should always be to prioritize their students education. During the Ontario school closures staff focus on cleaning with the latest technology, so our teachers in Ontario can do their demanding jobs. We hope that some of the solutions outlined above make cleaning the classrooms and the sanitization of students a much easier process so teachers can focus on what is really important, teaching.
